ANANTNAG, 19 Dec : In a significant development Principal and Dean of GMC Anantnag inaugurated the installation of Advanced hysteroscopic equipment at MCCH Sherbag, an associated hospital of GMC Anantnag.

When asked about the importance of installation of hysteroscope at MCCH Sherbag, Prof. Najeeb said that it is a step towards bringing the most advanced health care technology to the door steps of common people. She added that with this facility a gynecologist can directly look into the uterine cavity and can perform in one go both diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
Dr Syed Nawaz, Head Obstetrics and Gynaecology GMC Anantnag said that with the help of this instrument we will be able to deal with intra uterine pathologies like polyps, sub mucosal fibroids, septae, removal of misplaced IUCDs, tubal canalations and much more in a most advanced way. He further said that the procedure will not only be pain less and relatively bloodless, leaving no scar mark behind but will also be less time consuming with significantly decreased time to hospital discharge as compared to the open procedures. He added that the equipment is an important diagnostic and treatment modality for the cases suffering from infertility and abnormal uterine bleeding.
It is pertinent to mention that Worthy Principal GMC Anantnag who is a top notch critical care specialist of the UT of J and K, intubated the first patient herself who underwent hysteroscopy with this new instrument and laparoscopy at the same sitting and thus set an example for the youngers and explained to them how a leader leads from the front when there is a will and desire to contribute for the welfare of people. Surgical team for the procedure included Dr Syed Nawaz, Dr Tanzeela Nazir, Dr Nighat, Dr Ufaque, Dr Shahida Kaunsar , Dr Qurat ul Ain, Dr Razia, Mr Zubair, Mr Aamir, Mr Aslam and Mr Aaqib. Anesthesia team lead by Dr Rukhsana Najeeb (Principal and Dean) included Dr Riyaz Malik , Dr Hilal, Mr Abid, and Mr Mohd Rafeeq. Logistics were provided by Dy MS Dr. Shahid Hussain, Mr Adil, Mr Suhail, Mr Layeek, Mr M A Sheikh alias Mantri and Mr Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh.
