Jammu, November 1: Senior BJP leader and Nagrota MLA Devender Singh Rana passed away on Thursday at a private hospital in Haryana’s Faridabad.
According to family sources, Rana was undergoing treatment at the hospital. He is survived by his wife, Gunjan Rana, their daughters Devyani and Ketki, and son Adhiraj Singh. The cremation of Late Devender Singh Rana is scheduled for 4 p.m. today at Shastri Nagar Cremation Ground, Jammu.
Devender Singh Rana was a prominent Indian politician from Jammu and Kashmir, serving as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Nagrota constituency. Born in 1965, he passed away on October 31, 2024, at the age of 59.
Rana’s political career was marked by his association with the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference and later the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He won the 2014 Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly election from Nagrota, defeating Nand Kishore of the BJP by a margin of 4,048 votes.
Rana was also a successful businessman and held a degree in civil engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra.
