Kulgam October 16: PhD Scholar Dr. Mansoor Ahmad Tantray, known as the “PhD Dry Fruit Wala,” from south Kashmir’s Kulgam district has decided to quit his contractual position in higher education and pursue a career in entrepreneurship. Citing financial constraints, Dr. Tantray revealed that the salary from his academic job was not sufficient to support his family, prompting him to start his own dry fruits business.
Determined to make a change, Dr. Tantray has ventured into selling premium quality dry fruits sourced locally, aiming to promote regional agriculture in the community. His bold move reflects a broader trend of educated youth in Kashmir turning to business to overcome economic challenges.
Dr. Tantray encourages other educated, unemployed youth to embrace entrepreneurship without hesitation. “Don’t shy away; start a new business. You will definitely succeed in your life,” he said, urging others to explore self-employment as a viable path to success. His story has already inspired many in the region, challenging the notion that academic qualifications are the only route to a stable career.
