ANANTNAG,16 OCTOBER:- Today, under the patronage of Principal/ Dean Prof. ( Dr.) Rukhsana Najeeb department of anesthesiology, GMC Anantnag celebrated World Anesthesia day
The day was celebrated with the theme ” Anesthesia in modern Perspective” and a full day CME was organised to deliberate on the theme.
The CME was attended by professors, Heads of various departments, faculty members, MS and dy. MS MMABM associated hospital, desk officers, students and guest faculty from other medical colleges. The learned faculty that presented scientific talks at the event included Dr. Mohd Ashraf Teli ( Prof. Radiation oncology), Dr. Zafar Iqbal( Associate Prof. Anesthesiology), Dr Shayesta Ali (AP Anesthesiology) Dr Riyaz Malik ( consultant Anesthesiology), Dr Khalida Mushtaq ( consultant anesthesiology) Junaid Ahmad Dar ( consultant Anesthesiology) and Dr Junaid Jeelani ( SR Anesthesiology)
Prof. ( Dr.) Rukhsana Najeeb was the Chief Guest and Dr Waseem Salman, HOD Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine GMC Baramullah, was the Guest of Honour. The comparers for the event were Dr Andleeb Fazal and Dr Mehak Shabir both DNB Anesthesiology PG residents at GMC Anantang.
Appreciation certificates were distributed to dedicated doctors and supportive staff for their meritorious services towards improving patient care and academics. The welcome address was presented by Dr Anjum Shamim, associate Professor and Head Department of anesthesiology GMC Anantnag. He also presented vote of thanks at the end of the event.
Principal/Dean GMC Anantnag Prof. (Dr.) Rukhsana Najeeb who is also a professor of anesthesiology and leading critical care specialist of the valley, in her opening remarks addressed the delegates with a highly motivational speech. Prof. Najeeb made the audience spell bound by taking them through the history of anesthesiology. She gave due credit to the speciality of dentistry for setting up the stage for the speciality of anesthesiology through the discovery of the first anesthetic agent. She reteriated that she will make it sure that intensive care service are made available for the critically ill patients at GMC Anantnag within the shortest possible time. She further informed that MD/MS courses will be started soon at GMC Anantnag. Leading by example, it is expected that under the leadership of Prof. Najeeb, GMC Anantnag will be at par with other prestigious medical colleges of the country soon.
