Srinagar, Aug 06 : The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India, has officially announced the appointment of RR Swain as the new Director General of Police (DGP) for Jammu and Kashmir.
Swain, an IPS officer from the 1991 batch of the AGMUT cadre, has been serving in an additional capacity and will now assume the role effective immediately.
The appointment order, issued by the MHA, states: “With the approval of the Competent Authority, Shri R. R. Swain, IPS (AGMUT: 1991), currently holding the additional charge of the post of Director General of Police, Jammu & Kashmir, is hereby appointed to the post of Director General of Police, Jammu & Kashmir with effect from the date of assumption of charge and till 30.09.2024 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”
Swain’s tenure as DGP will extend until September 30, 2024, or until further directives are issued.(KNS)
