Srinagar: A growing trend of students bunking classes and spending time in parks has raised concerns among educators and parents in Kashmir. Both boys and girls are found skipping school to socialize and enjoy leisure time in parks, rather than focusing on their studies.
A couple of concerned parents told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that despite the ease of monitoring attendance and contacting parents, school teachers, and principals seem to be turning a blind eye to this issue.
“The lack of accountability and supervision has emboldened students to continue this habit, which can have long-term consequences on their academic performance and personal development,” they said and lamented that heads of the department are least concerned about this unhealthy development.
“This trend is not healthy for Kashmir’s society,” said a concerned parent. “Education is the foundation of a child’s future, and neglecting it can lead to a lifetime of regrets.”
Educators emphasize the need for strict attendance monitoring, parental involvement, and counseling to address this issue. [KNT]
