Srinagar: In an intensified effort to bolster regulatory compliance, the Drug Control Organization of south Kashmir’s Anantnag today conducted a comprehensive inspection of medical establishments across the peripheral areas of Kokernag. The operation, which covered regions including Khalar, Nagam, Vailoo, Soyan, Devalgam, Mathadoo, and Matigavran, aimed to ensure adherence to pharmaceutical regulations and promote good pharmacy practices.
A total of 20 medical sale establishments were scrutinized during the operation. While the majority of these establishments were found to be compliant with the existing regulations, two retail drug sale establishments were found in violation of their licensing conditions. The operations of M/s Naikoo Medical Store Nagam and Mehboobul-Ul Alam Medical Store Nagam were immediately disallowed on the spot due to these violations.
The authorities emphasized the importance of adhering to good pharmacy practices and maintaining proper storage conditions. The local chemists were reminded to strictly follow the circulars and guidelines issued by the Drug Control Organization and the District Administration. Non-compliance with these regulations can lead to stringent actions, including the permanent cancellation of licenses under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and the associated rules.
An official from the Drug Control Organization stated, “Our objective is to ensure that all medical establishments adhere to the highest standards of pharmaceutical practices. The recent inspections are part of our ongoing efforts to protect public health and safety by enforcing compliance with regulatory norms. We will continue to monitor and take necessary actions against any establishments that fail to meet these standards.”
The crackdown has sent a clear message to the medical community in the region about the importance of regulatory compliance. Local residents have expressed support for the authorities’ actions, emphasizing the need for stringent oversight to ensure the availability of safe and effective medicines.
The Drug Control Organization has reiterated its commitment to ongoing inspections and enforcement activities. Chemists and medical store owners are urged to maintain high standards and cooperate with regulatory authorities to avoid disruptions in their operations.
As the authorities continue their vigilance, it is imperative for all stakeholders in the pharmaceutical sector to align with the regulatory framework to ensure the health and well-being of the community.
