Srinagar: Security forces on Thursday said they foiled an infiltration attempt by killing two terrorists in an ongoing operation along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran Sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
This marks the second successful operation this month where security forces have managed to thwart infiltration attempts by terrorists attempting to cross the border along the LoC in the Keran sector of Kupwara.
An army official informed KNO that two terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire following inputs regarding their movement along the LoC in the Keran sector. The bodies of the terrorists are yet to be retrieved, as the operation is still ongoing, the official said.
“An infiltration attempt has been successfully prevented with the elimination of two terrorists on the LoC in the Keran sector. Anti-infiltration operations are continuing,” read a post by Chinar Corps—Indian Army on X (formerly Twitter).
Security forces on Monday said three hardcore foreign terrorists, who attempted to infiltrate across the LoC in the Keran Sector, were eliminated. A large quantity of warlike stores, including three AK series rifles with magazines, four pistols, and grenades were recovered during searches in the area.
“In recent weeks, there have been intelligence inputs regarding terrorists attempting to infiltrate the Line of Control along the Keran sector. They intended to carry out sabotage and subversive activities, aiming to disturb normalcy, particularly the ongoing Amarnath Yatra,” Brigadier NR Kulkarni, Commander of the 268 Infantry Brigade, Keran sector, said during a press conference on Tuesday, July 15.
