Srinagar: The fourth death anniversary of Tanveer-ul-Ahad, the founding editor of Global News Service (GNS) and newspaper The Daily Kashmir Glory, was solemnly observed on Saturday with a special prayer meeting and tributes from colleagues and contemporaries.
At a prayer meeting held in Srinagar, the entire team at GNS paid profound tributes to Tanveer-ul-Ahad, remembering him as one of the talented and bright journalists of Jammu and Kashmir.
Rehan Showkat, Tanveer’s younger brother who has succeeded him as Editor-in-Chief of both organizations, led the tributes with heartfelt words.
“He had a great passion for journalism, evident from his daily dedication and meticulous approach to news reporting.
Tanveer would spend hours verifying and re-verifying even the smallest details of a news story, whether for GNS or Kashmir Glory,” said Showkat in his tribute message.
“He has left a legacy for us to carry forward, and I ask for courage and patience from the Almighty to continue his mission with all my strength.”
Many other team members and contemporaries of Tanveer also expressed their profound admiration for his journalistic skills and dedication.
Tanveer-ul-Ahad, who passed away at a young age in May 2020 at SMHS Srinagar, continues to be remembered for his contributions to the field of journalism in the region.
A prayer meeting, known as Fateha Khawani, was also held at Tanveer-ul-Ahad’s residence in Muqam-i-Shahwali, Drugmulla.
People from various walks of life gathered to pay their respects and participate in the Fateha Khawani, honoring the memory of the renowned journalist.
