Incident after incident, attack after attack, killing after killing andlynching of innocents in Dadri UP, Himachal &Udhampur and so on happens in today’s modern republic ,secular ,democratic & inclusive India for which Gandhi and Nehru dream. India right now is in the words of Emerson, in a tumultuous privacy of storm.It was the Hindu writer Uday Prakash who cast first stone, by returning his SahityaAkdemi award to protest the rising intolerance in the country. Now the prairie fire started by him has spread to the far corners of India & threatens to consume the fic- tion of “Achche Din” More than 32 award wining writers and intellectuals mostly Sahitya Akdemi award winners have now joined the growing chorus against the march of fascism & communalism by returning their by their awards & state honors in unprecedented protest.
From Kashmir , Punjab to Karnataka, Maharashtra states dozens of authors have surrendered their awards and voicing their anger against the grow- ing spiraling violence & hate crimes against minorities , encapsulated pow- erfully in the lynching of a 50 years Muslim man in Dadri UP , 22 years old youth of Sarahanpur in Sarahan Himachal Pradesh and deadly attack on 3 Kashmiri Trackers in Udham- pur resulting death of a 18 year old ZahidRasolBhat of BatengoAnantnag and attacks were carried by Hindu mob supposedly over beef eating rumors and carrying cows in vehicles and also killing of intellectuals such as Prof. Kalburgi&GovindPanasare.
A 90 years old Hindi author Krishna Sobti returned her award and saying , ” we do not want anymoreDadris or Babris’. Famous Kashmiri writer & former HOD of Kashmir University Prof. MargoobBanihali has joined the race and returned his prestigious Sa- hityaAkdemi award, Sate honor & one lack cash award as a mark of protest while seeing the funeral of 18 year old youth ZahidRasoolBhat of Batengo ,Anantnag killed by a hindu mob in Udhampur on a beef remour. Mohammad Akhlaq was dragged out of his house and then brutally lynched by mob on the supposed suspicious that beef was cooked in his home which proved latter mutton after forensic lab test. His daughter asks the question to the killers can any body return her father as she has cooked mutton not beef ?Zahid’smother , sister & father asks why their loved young innocent chap boy was killed for none of his fault while carrying Coal in their truck ? The 22 years old youth of Sarahan- pur UP lynched by mom in Himachal raises similar questions.
The PM breaks his silence after 17 days and says the incidents as very unfortunate. The Prime Minister remains silent about his parties “Attack Brdidga ” his reign of terror in the country which seems RSS sponsored from last 16 months and minorities of the country are the worst affected .The PM blames the AkalishYadav in UP for Dadri incident and Congress Govt. in Himacha Pradesh incident. For which he will fix responsibility for the shame full act of Udhampur where his party BJP is in power with coalition partner. Need of the hour is to be tough and toughest against these ” Hate& Attack Brdgages” of his party. The Gandhian&Nehruvian idea of a Re- public, Democratic, Secular and Inclusive India is being threatned by the supremacist India of Golwalker’sdreams.Unless more and more Indians were wake up to the danger and fight to take back their country & to to defeat their ill de- signs, there is little hope for future. At the same time the the culprits involved in Dadri , Himachal &Ud- hampur should be brought to justices in a time bound manner and they deserves for capital punishment as there is enough evidence in TV foot- age’s. The family of Mohammed Akhlaq&ZahidRasoolBhat wants jus- tices not compensation and to hang such criminals, so that no one can dear to indulge in such a inhuman act in future.
