Srinagar, January 28 : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday launched simultaneous raids across various locations in Kashmir, targeting properties allegedly linked to a terror conspiracy case already registered at NIA.
Official sources told Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com that in Srinagar raid is being conducted at Dawat Textiles, an office located in Lal Mandi, owned by Jameel Ahmad Ainam, son of Habibullah Ainam, a resident of Jamia Qadeem, Sopore, presently residing in Hyderpora.
Raids are being conducted at five other locations, including Sopore, and Budgam.
In Sopore, the sleuths raided the house of Javid Ahmad Sheikh S/O Gh Ahmad Sheikh R/O Upper Ashipeer Sopore. At Sadiq Colony Sopore, a team of NIA raided the house of Abdul Rashid Shalla S/O Mohd Shaban Shalla and in the house of Nisar Ahmad Bukita Son of Gh Rashool Bikita at Check Roadi Khan Sopore.
The NIA is conducting searches in connection with FIR No. 01 of 2024, registered at the NIA. The case pertains to the Shalla Kadal killings.
Earlier, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had filed a chargesheet against four individuals, including a Pakistan-based terrorist, in connection with the killing of two non-local civilians by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its offshoot, The Resistance Front (TRF), in Kashmir last year in February.
The accused, identified as Adil Manzoor Langoo, Ahran Rasool Dar alias Tota, Dawood, and their Pakistan-based handler Jahangeer alias Peer Sahab, have been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UA(P) Act). The NIA Special Court in Jammu has already issued an open-ended non-bailable warrant against the absconding accused, Jahangeer.
The case pertains to the brutal killing of two civilians on February 7, 2024, at Karfali Mohalla, Shalla Kadal, Srinagar. Initially investigated by the local police, the case was later taken over by the NIA in June and re-registered as RC-01/2024/NIA/JMU.
Earlier investigations revealed that Adil Manzoor Langoo had joined LeT in 2023 and was influenced by Pakistani handlers to expand the terror outfit’s activities in Srinagar. Adil, along with his associates, Ahran Rasool Dar and Dawood, acted on instructions from Jahangeer, who motivated them to unleash jihad in the Srinagar area, targeting non-locals to spread fear and disrupt peace.
The NIA’s findings highlight that Adil had also been involved in earlier terror attacks in the Kashmir Valley. The conspiracy was aimed at waging war against the Government of India and instilling terror among non-locals residing in the Kashmir. (KDC)
