Budgam, Nov 6,: A successful operation by the Wildlife Department in the Khanshab Area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam resulted in the capture of a black bear that had been terrorizing the local population for weeks, officials said.
They said the bear was caught alive in a cage and tranquilized, bringing relief to the local populace.
Locals told the news agency that this wild bear had been spotted in different villages, spreading fear and anxiety among them.
Wildlife Department Block Range Budgam said that a team had been camping in the area, making persistent efforts to capture the bear and during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday they managed to capture it.
Locals while appreciating the efforts of the Wildlife Department appealed to it to establish a control room in the Khansahab Division. They said wild animals are being spotted frequently in villages adjacent to forest areas. [KNT]
