SRINAGAR:- In recent years, the residents of Jammu and Kashmir have faced numerous challenges, particularly following the abrogation of Article 370. The ongoing scrutiny from central agencies has left many Kashmiris feeling marginalized and targeted. Among the most pressing issues is the backlog of around 35000 passport applications , which has become a significant barrier for individuals seeking to travel for religious purposes like Umrah and Haj, as well as for employment opportunities.
I urge Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take immediate action to address this situation. It is essential to grant passports to those whose applications are pending. Our youth and families deserve the opportunity to pursue their spiritual journeys and seek better livelihoods without unnecessary delays and bureaucratic hurdles.
Now is the time for compassion and understanding. We must foster an environment of healing and hope in our region. By expediting the passport process, we can restore faith in our institutions and demonstrate that the voices of the people of Jammu and Kashmir matter.
Let us work together to bridge the gap and ensure that every eligible citizen can fulfill their aspirations. Zuhaib Mir called upon the authorities to prioritize these applications and facilitate the necessary support for our community.
Together, let’s pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future.
