Jammu, Aug 02 : Two children died and fifteen others fell ill due to suspected food poisoning at a wedding party in Udhampur district, officials said.
According to reports, around two dozen people, including children, showed symptoms of food poisoning after attending a wedding party in the Gordhi area.
Officials said the affected children were immediately taken to the hospital. “The children showed symptoms of intense vomiting and diarrhoea and were admitted to the hospital,” Dr Sanjeev Sharma, Medical Superintendent of the Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital Udhampur, informed the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
He said they had attended a wedding party in the Gordhi area, and there is a possibility of food poisoning.
Dr Sharma said 15 children were admitted to the hospital, with two in critical condition being referred to the GMC hospital in Jammu. “Unfortunately, two children were pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital,” he confirmed.
He added that more children displaying similar symptoms are being shifted to hospitals in Jammu, while others continue to receive treatment at the Udhampur District Hospital—(KNO)
