Srinagar, July 27,: On PDP foundation day, Mehbooba Mufti challenged Home Minister Amit Shah to form a committee consisting of 20 representatives from each side of Kashmir across the Line of Control, who would meet twice a year to discuss pertinent issues.
Speaking on 25th foundation day at SK Park here, according to Kashmir Dot Com Mohbooba expressed her criticism “What has been achieved by imprisoning and suppressing people in Kashmir who voted in favor of their rights in the referendum? Even Waheed Para, who was jailed on terrorism charges, received 200,000 votes. The government thinks it has eliminated the PDP, but look at the turnout for this PDP foundation day—PDP is not finished, remember this.”
Mufti continued, “I want to tell the Govt that foreign militants who infiltrate into Jammu, kill, and then leave. What are you doing? You are busy… The BJP is dominating our schools, institutions, and universities. People in Jammu are afraid to step outside.”
She urged the Government of India to open the roads of Jammu and Kashmir to Central Asia, emphasizing the need for dialogue and regional connectivity.
Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh… before 1947, it was an independent state, a small country… where Hindus, Muslims, and Buddhists lived together. Today, the people of Ladakh are crying, people of Jammu are beating their chests. Jammu, which was the hub of the economy, is weeping… and as for Kashmir, there’s no need to even mention it.
Every leader here on this stage speaks in Urdu, but I request you to teach your children Kashmiri at home… otherwise, our language will perish,” said Mehbooba Mufti. (KDC
