Srinagar: The 2nd National Lok Adalat 2024 convened in the District Court Complex Anantnag and various Taluka Courts across District Anantnag witnessed a commendable success, as 919 different cases out of 1347 were resolved amicably.
Under the able leadership of Mr. Jaffar Hussain Beigh, the Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (Principal District & Sessions Judge), Anantnag, and with the supervision of Ms. Tabassum Qadir Parray, Secretary District Legal Services Authority, Anantnag, the event proved to be a significant step towards expediting justice.
The event saw the constitution of two benches at DLSA Anantnag. Bench No. 1, presided over by Mr. Balbir L. Jaswal, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Anantnag, and accompanied by Mr. Sarfaraz Nawaz, Special Mobile Magistrate Anantnag as a member, contributed substantially to the resolution of cases. Bench No. 2, led by Mr. Faizan ul Haq Iqbal, Chief Judicial Magistrate Anantnag, and with Mr. Ishtiyaq Alam Baba, Munsiff JMIC Anantnag as a member, also played a crucial role in this success story.
Moreover, benches were constituted at various Taluka Legal Services Committees (TLSC) including TLSC Bijbehara, TLSC Duru, TLSC Vailoo, TLSC Shangus, and TLSC Ashmuqam. These decentralized efforts ensured that a wide range of cases were addressed effectively, contributing to the overall success of the National Lok Adalat.
The outcomes were not just limited to legal resolutions but also had a financial impact, with an amount of 98,82,093/- realized in different cases that were amicably settled.
This dual achievement highlights the positive impact of such initiatives in not only providing justice but also in facilitating financial settlements that benefit both parties involved.
The efforts of the District Legal Services Authority Anantnag were met with appreciation from advocates, participants, and the general public, who acknowledged and thanked the authority for organizing a successful and impactful National Lok Adalat.
