||WAHEED UR REHMAN
All processes, discussions, formulae, equations and theories with actual realities in this world owe there existence to uncertainty maxim, for which this whole activity is in place. Arresting the uncertainty shall put a stop to creativity. However the strength of conviction in the endresult determines the action at present. This does not stop me to hold that any dogma that promises any tempetous theology at a wreckage of political ,economic and social fabric in the present world order has hardly any takers from thinking humans. People emancipated by theories of internationalism are losing love for traditional boundaries and globe is shrinking fast to a village wherein we all require to adjust our due place and become conversant to new demands of worldly arrangement and redefined engagement.
Mufti Muhammad Syed would put all means at his command to achieve the end of making the people live a prosperous and dignified life while saluting the history and regional aspirations of people living in this part of the world. An old generation politician who had mastered the art of adjustment to the fresh demands of new people and new world. With broader understanding of emerging world classification he founded People’s Democratic Party as an alternative to monopolistic political legacy held by National Conference to envisage the political and economical aspirations of future generation not by wreckage but by transformation of institutions of governance. Any young enterprising entrepreneur active in any department of life has a lesson to learn on courage held by his resilience and resolute to challenge the political monopoly at a time when nobody dared a straight word of criticism on Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah.
This gentleman par excellence even to his critics, with the patience of bearing the severest criticism by reciprocative virtue of silence acted only within the larger ambit of law and constitution to stand for his point for not allowing political vaccum to exist in this sensitive state that he believed could add the miseries to the people. In this effort he twice lost the assembly elections. He halfway lost accomplices very dear to his heart in the pursuit for providing a political democratic alternative to the people of this state. Instead of losing the resolve he went on with perseverance to put a firm point against Rajiv- Farooq accord in 1987 and by now most of the political analysts attribute the onset of armed conflict to the vacuum created by this accord.
His decision to go with ideologically distant BJP on the basis of Common Minimum Programme is again a testimony to his being a bold decision maker and this was done for achieving the greater good of his people. As rightly put, to implement the programmes of development , he worked with a body of 80 year old but the vigor and spirit of a youngster. Though against the advice of medicos his Srinagar Tour of 24th December will live as a record of his commitment to serve the people, his sense of detail, his passion for work as has been put forth by series of writings in media as a practical quintessence of Principals of Management for all enthusiastic, adventurous and young entrepreneurs in all walks of life.
May his soul rest in peace!
