The high tech gadgets have been installed at the venue wherein the recruitment is done in the police department with the ability of each candidate being judged on the basis of the CCTV footage.
The unemployment is a perplex problem throughout the world, less in developed countries & more in developing countries like India. J&K along with other states of the country is also facing this problem. The unemployment of youth particularly the educated ones is not only tell- ing upon the productivity of the state but also contributes negatively towards the overall situation of the state. There are six Lac unemployed educated youth registered with the Employment exchanges of the state. Although, Central Government and State Governments have launched a number of schemes to provide gainful employment, yet a lot re- mains to be done on this front.
After taking over the reigns of government, Shri Mufti Mohammad Syed, Chief Minister directed all the recruiting agencies to expedite the process of recruitment. As a sequel to this the Jammu and Kashmir Police advertised 4000 post of constables in J&K. The district wise break- up of posts are as:-
Srinagar 409, Budgam 234, Ganderbal 94, Leh 46, Kargil 44, Anantnag 341, Pulwama 181, Kulgam 134, Shop- ian 84, Baramulla 324, Kupwara 279, Bandipora 132, Jammu 486, Kathua 196, Samba 101, Poonch 150, Rajouri 198, Udhampur 177, Reasi 100, Doda 130, Ramban 89, Kishtiwar 71. The J&K State Government constituted a Police Recruitment Board headed by an Additional Director General of Police Shri L. Mohanti-IPS with Shri M. Sulaiman Salaria- IPS IGP. Shri Gh. Hassan Bhat- IPS DIG, SSP Shri Ramesh Ku- mar Jalla, SSP Shri Mohammad Aslam Choudhary and SP Shri Mohammad Aftaab Mir as its members.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Ghulam Hassan Bhat said this for the first time that such a mechanism has been introduced in Jammu and Kashmir. According to him, it will make sure that no talent is undermined and the deserving candidates are accorded their due share in the process.
PHQ has also employed a recruitment agency to expedite the process. More than 41000 applications have been received from Kashmir province while as, 59000 applications from Jammu province. The recruitment for these posts started from 12th of November 2015 to 17th of December this year in Kashmir province and will start from 7th of January 2016 to 23rd of the same month in Jammu prov- ince. During the recruitment drive Ra- dio- frequency Identification (RFID) chips are being used to record the run time of candidates.
Push-ups are being video-graphed and the entire recruitment process was computerized with almost no human interference. There was no scope for any influence, fault or confusion. It is for the first time that such a high tech mechanism has been introduced for recruitment process in Jammu and Kashmir Police, which will make sure September 2016 2015 Kashmir Leader January that no talent is undermined and the deserving candidates are accorded their due share in the process.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Ghulam Hassan Bhat told Kashmir Leader that for the first time a process called Transparent Recruitment Process (TRP) has been introduced in the state which will make sure that only the deserving candidates get selected. He said that, participants by and large have hailed the efforts of the Police department, saying that such a mechanism would not only ensure justice to the deserving lot but would also bring a remarkable change in the overall mechanism.
He further elaborated that the candidate need not be lured by unscrupulous elements in the process of recruitment as the whole process will be a transparent exercise. Only those of the candidates who qualify for the written test and were on spot informed regarding the same, shall have a chance of getting recruit- ed. The sole criteria for appointment, after passing all the physical tests will be the merit obtained by each candi- date in the written test which will be held in the month of March, 2016.
The test will be of matric level with 100 questions of multiple choice (MCQs) and each question carrying one mark. “It is a good step being taken by the police department. We should hail such a process as this will go a long way in delivering justice to us and thou- sands of others who aspire to serve the society through the police department,” says Shahid Iqbal, a participant who took part in the recruitment drive at south Kashmir’s high ground, Anantnag. The candidates maintained that it is the machines which are judging the talent and ability of the participants and they were hopeful of such a process yielding positive results.
