Hoisting a Pakistani flag on Chief Minister Mufti Mohmmad Syeed’s ancestral residence at Bijbehara is enough for political commentators to justify that Peoples Democratic Party is now facing a revolt from Bijbehara hometown of Chief Minister Mufti Mohmmad Syeed and his daughter Mehbooba Mufti who is party president and aspirant for Chief Minister’s post in expected ‘Change of Guard’. Hoisting of Pakistan national flag in summer capital on every Friday after prayers and in anti-India rallies has already scaled down the morale of Peoples Democratic Party and Chief Minister as the actions taken against these incidents resulted caging of separatist leaders like Masrat Aaalm Bhat which backfired the party in Muslim majority Kashmir because of its election manifesto, Self-Rule promise and battle of Ideas slogan.
On 23rd of this month, three youngsters affiliated with Hizb-ul-Mujahdeen militant outfit, two of them (Adil Ahmad Sheikh and Tanvir Ahmad) from Chief Minister’s neighborhood, were killed in a brief encounter at Slig- am-Aishmuqam. Killing of trio evoked strong reaction from Bijbehara. Town observed complete shutdown for four consecutive days and for the first time in recent years, Chief Minister’s ancestral home was attacked with stones. A Paksitani flag too was hoisted on his ancestral residence where his brother Mufti Mohmmad Amin and nephew Mufti Sajad Ahmad live with their families. In defense, policemen fired over 100 rounds in air and tear smoke shells to disperse the agitated youth. Due to tear smoke shelling, the families residing around Mufti’s resi- dence were weeping and cursing. It is also for the first time that Syed Ali Shah Geelani called for a shutdown over the killing of militants which marked the change of Geelani’s policy.
Senior Journalist Shujhat Bukhari also took to twitter to comment over the shutdown call and opined the same. Mufti government which became the causality of flare-ups since the day one is now loosing people’s confidence as the promises done by the party during elections haven’t taken any shape yet. Importantly last year homeless flood victims too haven’t been yet rehabilitated. Much hyped rehabilitation package has less for flood victims and more for countering china in Leh and Ladakh. Contrary to promise, skirmish on boarders is growing day by day while as despite the passage of nine months, no hand of friendship for cordial rela- tionship between the nuclear armed countries has been extended. Very re- cently Prime Minister Narendra Modi put the Chief Minister’s request for the same openly in dustbin by saying at Srinagar rally he doesn’t need any suggestion or advice on Kashmir. From making the borders irrelevant and ensuring dual currency, now the party is subscribing the India’s nation- al position on Indian administered Jammu Kashmir and Pakistan admin- istrated Kashmir.
Going PDP youth President’s logical who is very active and mostly remains busy with helping needy, wants to bring back Pakistan administrated Kashmir in Indian am- bit contrary to his party’s position. Political observers in Srinagar be- lieve that alliance just for money hasn’t gone well with the PDP as it begged votes for Kashmiris to stop BJP’s mission 44+ as BJP which outsmarted Congress led UPA in Lok Sabah elections at National level is now too losing ground. Humiliating Defeat in Delhi elections and now recently in Bihar as put the party at back foot. In Indian BJP’s defeat is considered because of implementing ideology of Hinduvata in secular idea be it Cow slaughter issue, intolerance or incidents like Dadri but across Himalayas in Kashmir, collation partner of BJP, PDP is too pay- ing the price. Back in Bijbehara where PDP man- aged to bring people to polling booths despite election boycott wave and saved its candidate Abdul Rehman Veeri now Horticulture Minister in Mufti’s cabinet- from facing a humiliating defeat.

Veeri’s rival condiadte, Dr Bashir Ahmad Veeri from National Conference lost election by 2868 votes. NC blames higher voter turnout for the defeat as it was expecting to get ben- efit of election boycott but according PDP leaders brining Mufti Sajad- CM’s nephew- in party fold helped party to get 2839 votes from town while as NC got suggest 641 votes. At polling booth Bijbehara-A NC got Zero while as PDP got 160 votes.
However, now Mufti Sajad is also being held responsible for losses particularly for flag hoisting incident. Insiders say that Sajad’s style of working- benefiting few aides out of turn- has agitated the Bijbehara residents. Locals who voted yesterday on his re- quest are now crushing him. On the other hand growing anger against the party for joining hands with the party (BJP) that is all out to implement its anti-Kashmir agenda is evidently in- creasing manifold. So, political commentators believe that if at this point, PDP Patron Mufti Mohmmad Syeed doesn’t have re-look at his policies and agenda, then no one can save the PDP’s ‘sinking boat’. incidents-hoisting of Pakistan national flag in summer capital on every Friday after prayers and in anti-India rallies- has PDP led collation government n’t only embracement to security agencies Peoples Democratic Party is now facing a revolt from Bijbehara- considered to be its homewhich successfully managed to bring out people to polling booths in Bijbehara despite prevailing anti-India sentiment .
